Drug
Abuse Information Rehabilitation and Research Centre (DAIRRC) is one of the leading
anti drug treatment centres in India, committed to drug abuse prevention, control,
treatment and rehabilitation of those addicted to alcohol, heroin, cocaine, crack,
methamphetamines, marijuana, cough syrups, sedatives, tranquilizers, pain killers
or any other drug. DAIRRC is India's premier institution for the last two decades,
involved in the crusade against Substance Abuse and its related problems including
HIV/AIDS. It has ingeniously discovered time tested techniques of identification,
treatment, recovery and rehabilitation of victims of Substance Abuse and Alcohol
Abuse.
DAIRRC has treatment and rehabilitation facilities for the treatment
of Heroin addicts, treatment of Cocaine addicts, treatment of alcoholics and treatment
of other drug abusers, including polydrug addicts. The rehabilitation centre has
been offering drug rehab treatment to drug addicts and alcoholics since 1982 in
India. Treatments offered are for heroin addiction, alcohol rehabilitation, and
it also offers treatment of cocaine addiction or cocaine rehabilitation. It 's
unique drugs treatment program for both treatment, as well as rehabilitation,
has a high success rate, as 85 percent of the drug addicts treated at the rehab
centre are still drug free, after treatment. The DAIRRC alcohol and drug treatment
and rehabilitation program, involves a four-pronged treatment approach that includes
treatment on the physical, mental, social and spiritual planes. DAIRRC has been
providing a holistic treatment process aimed at targeting all angles of substance
and alcohol abuse, and has over a period of over 25 years, now achieved a success
percentage ratio of 85% (not including the dropouts).
Drug addiction and
Alcoholism has well-recognized cognitive, behavioral, and physiological characteristics
that contribute to continued use of alcohol and drugs, by the addict, despite
the harmful consequences. It has been scientifically proved that chronic drug
abuse alters the brain's anatomy and chemistry and that these changes can last
for months or years after the individual has stopped using drugs. This transformation
may help explain why addicts are at a high risk of relapse to drug abuse even
after long periods of abstinence, and why they persist in seeking drugs despite
deleterious consequences and necessarily need long term treatment.
Any
other alcohol and drug treatment process, can help an alcoholic or addict stop
alcohol or drugs. The DAIRRC treatment method helps an alcoholic or addict to
STAY STOPPED.
The
detox treatment program at the recovery center facility in Mumbai for drug addiction
treatment lasts for about a week and the drug rehabilitation program is for about
one year. The DAIRRC treatment process lasts for about a year for the simple reason,
that, drug treatment or alcoholism treatment must last long enough to produce
stable behavioral changes. Total drug and alcohol abstinence is the primary goal
of the drug rehab, though DAIRRC counts success only when the drug addicted patient,
after his treatment leads a drug free, productive and sober life style. DAIRRC
also offers drug treatment for all addicts including smack treatment and rehab,
crack recovery, methadone detoxification, treatment and rehab. This Rehabilitation
program is basically a life skills development program that has behavioral correctional
components.
- DAIRRC has Special Consultative status with the United
Nations' Economic and Social Council.
- DAIRRC has their Institutional Review
Board (# IRB00003198) that has been registered and approved by OHRP.
- DAIRRC
has also applied and received Federal Wide Assurance (FWA00004233) in February
of 2003.
