What makes our Rehabilitation Centre Different

For any Good Rehab Centre, it is imperative that they offer only Voluntary Treatment.

In many Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centres in India and other developing nations, treatment can be involuntary. Parents should know that the involuntary treatment will never be fruitful.

When an addict gets back home, after a stint in an involuntary centre, they will recommence using drugs again with a vengeance. Being in an involuntary rehab centre they build more negativity and come out with a lot more resentment due to not being treated in a right manner.

In some Rehab Centres they tie up drug addicts. Not only will this treatment method not work, it is also inhuman.

Nobody can force a doctor to treat a patient. So how can one imagine a patient being forced to be treated by a doctor? It is virtually impossible to treat an addict who does not want to be treated.

Another must for a Good Rehabilitation Centre in India, is to ensure that the family participates in the Rehabilitation Process. Even though only one person is using drugs – parents, spouses, siblings and other close family members are all affected. They need to heal too.

Besides, if family dynamics can be corrected (even a little) it will impact a positive change on the Rehabilitation Treatment of the Addict.

Often, Drug Addicts or Alcoholics are not bonded to their family. In fact they are not even bonded to their friends. They may be using drugs with friends, but they are not bonded to them. If you take the drug or alcohol out of the equation, the users will not hang out with their addict friends at all.

Another must for Rehabilitation Centre in India is that they should not be set up in buildings in a city. Our Addiction Centre is set up in a natural surrounding where there are a lot of outdoor activities like a field for sports and indoor actives like table tennis. At our rehab centre we also have pool facilities available which all help in healing for the addict.

In addition to physical space a Good Rehabilitation Centre in India should also have a Gym and encourage Physical Activities.

The focus should be according to The World Health Organisation’s definition of Health. The World Health Organisation defines health as ‘NOT MERELY ABSENCE OF DISEASE OR INFIRMITY, BUT A STATE OF COMPLETE PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL WELL BEING’. This is practised at our addiction centre, DAIRRC.

A good rehabilitation centre in India, in my opinion, should not have more than 25 to 30 drug addicts. They should all get personal attention and counselling. Some drug rehabilitation centres in India have 150 to 200 beds. Because of which these rehabilitation centres have less than a 5 percent success rate.

It is imperative to have a Holistic Approach to Treatment at any De- Addiction Centre in India. We do so by ensuring group therapy sessions, one to one counselling sessions, sessions for parents of drug addicts and alcoholics. We also include practises such as mindfulness and internal awareness.

At our Rehab Centre we see the addict as a person who has coping issues and give them the right tools to deal with those issues. These are the few ways in which we ensure the right treatment for drug addicts at our rehabilitation centre in India.
